Oh Mariam (By Daniel Mamo)
A note from the author: This work of poetry highlights the reverence for Mary. Verily, She is important in many theological traditions, so I thought it would be interesting to share some of my poetry about her. May peace be spread through this message!
O Mariam, cradle of the boundless flame,
You bore the Word before it had a name.
In you the bush burned, yet was not consumed—
The desert bloomed, the womb resumed.
You are the gate Ezekiel foresaw,
Still sealed, yet through you passed the Law.
The Ark of Zion rests not in stone,
But in your arms, where God was sown.
What is time to you, O timeless one?
You nursed the Maker beneath the sun.
Infinity wept, wrapped in your veil,
And through your yes, all flesh turned hale.
In Aksum’s chants your name still soars,
Carved in the dust of temple floors.
For heaven came not with trumpet or sword—
But through a girl who bore the Lord.
