The Eyes of Gardens (By Ismael Hafez)

A note from the author: This is intended to be the beginning of a story with no ending, dense with theological influence.

He raised his right hand slightly above the smooth ridge of his nose. The eyes of strong men weakened as they saw him, dressed in garments clean and white. Twisted notes of oud and rose then filled the room, becoming more prevalent with every step that he took. He knelt to connect his gaze with his newborn son, whose eyes possessed such a pure green color, that he thought their beauty would only rival that of the gardens of heaven. He went to kiss his forehead and it was then when he was sure that all he had done was just. As he then went on to whisper the adhan in his ear, tears fell on that rug he desired all those years ago.
